Garden Soul

When I read the words you have written on these rustic pages
I can’t help but feel myself being transported
Into a secret place, as I enter I feel you
The ground pulses as my heart beats, it feels so similar
I feel the words as they have consumed this place
Seeds planted in the dirt, yes there is lots of dirt
It is a dirty place, with patches of darkness, there are these ugly trees
They are all gnarled with a dark sap dripping down them and deep infected wounds
But in the center, off in the distance, there is a very large flower
It looks like an exotic lily of some kind…
It is so beautiful its color radiates through this entire enclave of life and soul
Can you feel it?
There is pain in this place, deep hurt, and yet I see hope as well
I begin walking through, looking around
There are little plants peaking up through the dark, dirty soil
There seems to be growth all over the ground, soybeans I think
They are well rooted and there are little flowers too
They gather in patches here and there dotting the ground in a pretty white
It is a pure white, untouched, untainted; I look at them for a moment
It seems like they belong, like they’ve been here…
As I continue walking the soybeans seem alive
Though they cover the ground, they move to make way for my steps
Not just this but they seem to be guiding me
Moving ahead and showing the way…
I come to one of the patches of snowy white flowers
Noticing that some of the flowers lie wilted around the edge of the patch
But there is a wonderful fragrance wafting from this mound of petals
So I bend over and pick one, and as I hold it to my nose
I notice that more of them start to bloom the patch seems to spread a bit
I tell myself that it’s just my imagination and it can’t be…
But now the soybeans lead me on
They take me to another patch of flowers and as I walk up…
I notice that it’s covered in butterflies
That instant preceding my approach they all fly up into the air
They land on one of the trees
The tree begins to turn green; it comes alive and blooms before my eyes
Sending petals floating into the air on a breeze
The breeze passes my skin and I shiver a little, but it feels right
Fruit begins to form and one drops on the ground in front of me
I picked it up and took a bite…
It was a peach, the best peach I ever tasted
As the juices ran down my chin, I took a seat under the tree
I felt content, like I belonged there, a sense of joy came over me
Then a calm comfortable feeling swept around me like a blanket
I fell asleep under that tree, thinking to myself…
I could stay here forever… … I hope I do.

Desirable Destination

Fight the primal
Calm the soul
Ask the Lord
To make me whole
When will I
Find my way
Hopefully before
Come judgment day
Will I find
The life I won’t lose
For so much time
The highs and lows
I don’t want to feel
Things down to my toes
I wanted to fly
But not like the crows
Constantly landing
Only to take off again
I’d rather sit down
Live life like a hen
Calm and Chaos
They both are plagues
Constantly switching
Making their trades
Are we destined
To find our equilibrium
Or do we just exist
For an age of delirium
I’ll continue to walk
The windy road
Hoping to find
Maybe a clearing
Or just a lightened load

Traveller

I’ve travelled all over the world
After all this time I should be more impressed
Instead I’m just waiting to go on
Just to fill my heavy chest
I had to go to the other side of the world
Just to find that the things I believe in
Are sitting there waiting right back at home

It’s a funny world you know
Each place has a feeling
As you meet others you bring your own
But you can’t help being impressed
By the differences you see
Now I know just what I want to be

The earth turns, dogs bark
The sun rises and then it goes
The sky is black the sky is bright
The other side of the world
Barely changes the sights

As I fly through the borders
The clouds break for many peaks
Some sights carry you high
Then you see things shrouded as well

On this earth, I’ve met demons with crosses
I’ve met drunken saints, and the reverse
But I still can’t shake… this life is no curse.

So I fly on, on to home
Remembering the world I loved to roam

There I'll stay, I've found my home
