On a good night I look up
Into the dotted backdrop of eternal ambition
The backdrop of my ever wandering, ever reaching mind
So many pin tips of brilliant light
Why are we so certain?
To reach for the next sight
We made it to the moon
Once foot was placed we sung
Someday we’ll shoot to Mars
We never can say we’ve won
There’s a man in the mirror
Not sure I like his face
But the more I look nearer
I know what’s in his gaze
The thirst is everlasting
Some new direction to be steered
Everyday we ride our bulls
And frequently we’re thrown
Can’t ever let that stop us
You just get back on
And ride it home
What am I looking for?
Why do I write this song?
I know where my end lies
I won’t be here for long
Behind every curtain a new quest
Somehow we never stop
Behind every triumph some new test
What’s the reason for our scurry?
Why do we run like mice?
Every moment is so fleeting
No time to live it twice
This myriad seems a dying man’s maze
Will he find cheese at the end of this race?
Ask me why I already know my answer
I’ll be standing at heaven’s gates
While some hope this life of half quenched thirst
Will not have been a waste
