Exploration of Kingship: We Are Sisyphus

Some rule their lives like a small kingdom
But can we be good rulers?
Or do we waste our resources
Plundering our potential
Maybe we supplant our own uprising
Does a man know how to rule?
Or does he defeat his own cause?
I know not the highest potential
Or how to spread my efforts
I have no strong tower
From which to view my kingdom
I think I’ll leave the ruling
To one who can view far and wide
A true ruler, over a great city
With streets paved in gold
This great King is wiser than I
He can see what I cannot
With his benevolent hand
He offers to raise my kingdom
To lift me out of obscurity and waste
To set me atop his high mountain
To build around me a great stronghold
And a tower that will bear light for all to see
